possibly of the skyline of  Lincoln and the outline of the MinisterAfter seeing the inside of the Cathedral we walked around the walls & so got an idea of the size which is enormous & the delicacy of the out lines. It was raining so the photographs are none of the best. We decided to go on before lunch so we went to Ripon. The Inn is charming with quaint furniture & some good pictures but the pup again proved a drawing card, as everyone spoilt him. Fountains Abbey was closed so we ran on to Durham for the night. After tea we walked for miles through a lovely wood to the Cathedral. It was closed so we gazed at the Cow & the cemetery & returned to the Hotel. The puppy slept in our room & behaved like a lamb, never the less Frank took him back to town the next morning. a cathedralWe made a flying visit to the Cathedral. Inside it is more open than Ely & Lincoln as both the ?? & the Rood screen are very open, but the ?? & very strong & decorous & respectable ?? are four periods in its building and at the end is the tomb of St Cuthbert, who must have
