a 3 story house or inn with a horse drawn cartour first puncture. It was raining too so no wonder it did not appeal to us particularly. At York we stopped at the Great Northern's Hotel & Frank was evidently quite somebody. The puppy was put under the chaperonage of the night porter who seemed delighted with his charge. We were too lazy to go out that evening & didn't even breakfast the next morning until 10:15! After that early repast we all got into a growles & went through the rain to the Minister. a gate possibly leading to a church yard Service was just beginning so we could not go into the choir. The exterior is beautiful but the interior is magnificent. Next to Cologne, I like it better than any Cathedral I have ever seen. The proportions are perfect & the atmosphere very churchly. The window in the North transept was a marvel of grace & the Rood screen is so wonderful that it did not seem in the way.
