We picked up the pilots at Aalesund, an ugly Weehawhen-like place, after a rough trip across the North Sea. Incidentally we were twenty four hours late so our spirits were none of the most cheerful to appreciate the beauties of the Norwegian coastline - for it really is beautiful with its snow-capped rugged peaks & the still water in the fjords. On Sunday June 14 (17?) we reached our first real stopping point - Torghatten Island. Are these the 3 girls in the picture on the same page? The Island is shaped like a hat with a natural tunnel (said to have been made by the Giants' Arrow!) which gives a very fine view seawards, like a telescope. I was too lazy to make the climb, but Claudia said it was lovely despite the presence of our fellow voyagers - who are simply impossible with the exception of the two Carrs and the Fells- three "bachelor girls"who are very good fun.
