pg 12 Walter arrived on July 2nd & the car & Roy the next day so we stayed for a few days in London to let them rest. Thursday the 4th, Mother & I bought a little West Highland puppy & of course he had to accompany us. So Friday Morning the cavalcade started off _ Walter beside Roy, Frank Wodehouse & I on the Pullmans & Mother, Claudia & the puppy on the rear seat. Due more to good luck than good management we got out of London safely, stopped at Woolners & saw Mrs Wodehouse & Mrs Wodehouse mere - a wonderful old lady aged 91 - & reached Cambridge for lunch. There the puppy proved a great attraction & garnered the hearts of the entire staff. After lunch we went to Kings College chapel & wandered around the town a bit. It is not to be compared with Oxford in picturesqueness. That night we got to Peterborough too late to get inside the Cathedral. It is very unattractive & in the afternoon we stopped at Ely - a huge place with a fire tower (that) (This page has a missing photo.) |
