Maibelle McCullough, c. 1918 Maibelle Christine McCullough was born in Alicia, Arkansas on June 25, 1899, the next youngest child of W.J. McCullough and Nancy Vianna Smith McCullough.

In 1920 she married George Alexander Mouton. Money borrowed from her brother-in-law George L. Alexander helped the couple through the Depression and ensured their fortune in rice farming. Maibelle had four children -- two sons and two daughters. In the latter 1970's at the request of her children, Maibelle -- in concert with her two remaining sisters -- wrote this memoir. She died February 04, 1988 in Portland, OR .
