May 1 We expect to get bread tonight it is very warm

May 2 Getting a little better grub since we kicked 2 steamers came into port

May 3 A transport with 2 troops of the 11 calvary on the way to Legaspi (?) stopped here

May 4 A party of 115 men under Major Wise Capt Hart wand Lieut Yost started on a 2 day hike for Old Donsol and San Vincente, Sergt Harvey shot through the leg at 6 PM had an engagement of about and hour took Donsol and slept in church all night

May 5 Got up and started at 430 AM took San Vincente at 1 PM shipped Sergt Harvey home in a banco at 7 PM arrived back at Donsol at 11 PM

May 6 All the fellows stiff today small steamer came in

May 7 Boat load of natives came in amongst them was Francisco Hernandez wife

May 9 No mail boat yet Hospital ship Relief to Sergt Harvey and 2 others to Manila

Apr 10 [sic] Ration boat comes in got some mail busy unloading boat it is hot as h-l.

May 11 At 12 last night a party of 40 men in rowboats towed by a launch went to Magoon a small town 6 miles up the coast captured an outpost killed 1 and captured 2 a steamer with a lighter in tow came in just as we bot back at 7. AM

May 12 We got enough rations to do us until August

May 13 A boat came in last night from Sorsogon received letter Major Anderson came.

May 15 A restriction on water posted up

May 16 We had a scrap with the niggers outside the town it lasted 2 hrs they had Mausers and Remington rifles

(May 17-21: no entry)

May 22 Very warm We were attacked twice once at Mess time 5.30 the other at 7 PM nobody was hit on our but 8 shots took effect on the niggers that we know of.

May 25 A steamers from Sorsogon came in with rations

May 26 A small steamer on her way to Pilar stopped here a comet passed over the town at 12 PM lighting up everything

May 30 Very Warm looks like rain we had Sourkraut for supper for finishing cook house.

May 31 Muster for the month the boat crew under Lieut Slack captured a filibuster boat in Pilar Bay last night with 6 men aboard.
