B. Christopher Dies at Home Here at 10 A.M.

Widely known Traveling Man Succumbs After Three Weeks' Illness

Ben H. Christopher, one of the most widely known traveling salesmen in Arkansas and Louisiana, died this morning at his home, 314 West Fourteenth avenue. Mr. Christopher had been in declining health for several months, but became critically ill three weeks ago.

He was born in Church Creek, Maryland, but came here more than 50 years ago and has made his headquarters here continually since. As a traveling salesman he had a large acquaintanceship in Arkansas and Louisiana, where he was known as "Uncle Ben."

He was a charter member of the United Commercial Travelers, Pine Bluff chapter, a member of the Lakeside Methodist church, of Pine Bluff lodge 69, F. and A.M., and of Juliet lodge, Knights Pythias.

Mr. Christopher is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Nellie Vining; three sons Freelin Christopher and Cornelius Christopher of Pine Bluff, and Ben H. Christopher, Jr. of New York City.

The funeral will be held up pending the arrival of relatives and announcement will be made as to date by H. I. Holderness company. The family requests no flowers be sent.

Funeral services for Ben H. Christopher will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of his son, Freelin Christopher, 320 West Fourteenth avenue, by Rev. L.E.N. Hundley, pastor of Lakeside Methodist church. Burial will be in Bellwood cemetery by H. I. Holderness Company.

Mr. Christopher, who was a well known traveling salesman, died at his home here yesterday after an illness of about three weeks. He had been in declining health for several months. He had been a resident of Pine Bluff for more than 50 years and had numerous friends throughout his traveling territory in Arkansas and Louisiana.

He was a member of Lakeside Methodist church, a charter member of the United Commercial Travelers, Pine Bluff chapter, of Pine Bluff lodge 69, F. and A.M., and of Juliet lodge, Knights Pythias.

He is survived by his wife and three sons Freelin Christopher and Cornelius Christopher of Pine Bluff, and Ben H. Christopher, Jr. of New York.

Members of the family have requested that friends do not send flowers.

The following will act as pallbearers Fred Vining, John Vining, George Vining, Arthur Vining, Fred Vining, Jr., Thomas F. Fining, F.M. Vining and Raymond Vining.
