John Jay Phelps Honored
Fifty Years a Trustee of United States Trust
John Jay Phelps will complete today his fiftieth years as a trustee of the United States Trust Company of New York. He has served continuously since 1895. He was born in Paris in 1861 and was graduated from Yale in the class of 1883. During the Spanish-American War he served as a lieutenant in the Navy, and in the first World War he commanded a squadron of submarine chasers. He is a member of numerous Audubon, forestry, natural history and geographic organization.
